The Dangers of a High Calorie Diet
If you are eating a high calorie diet you are probably well aware of the number one danger associated with it and that is obesity. While there are some people who have naturally high metabolisms and are able to burn off calories at the speed of light, those people are few and far between. But obesity is really indicative of a number of health risks that are not quite as visibly obvious. If you are overweight then you know that you leave yourself open to those risks.
Eating a diet high in calories means that you are either eating too many fats, too much sugar or both. The danger really isn’t in the calories themselves but where you get those calories from. High fat diets significantly increase your risk of cardiovascular disease, strokes and a plethora of colorectal and digestive issues.
If the bulk of your calories come from sugars then you not only leave yourself open to increased risk for cardiovascular disease including the increased risk of strokes, but you also greatly increase your risk of developing type 2 diabetes. Also, an excess of sugar causes wrinkling of the skin and premature aging. Don’t forget what all that sugar does to your teeth!
Now consider what you are doing to your body if you high calorie diet is a combination of both too much fat and too much sugar. You leave yourself open to all of the above risks but those risks are now compounded because you are bombarding your system from every which direction. Although neither a high fat diet nor a high sugar diet is good for you, one or the other would be better than both put together. Unfortunately, if you are eating a high calorie diet, you are getting too much of everything bad. The truth is the truth.
