Prepare For A Cleanse By Juice Fasting

Although some might describe a juice fast as a fad, or the latest thing, it isn’t. Juice fasting has been around for generations, all that has made it ‘modern’ is the ease with which you can extract the juices from fruits and vegetables with modern kitchen appliances. The practise and the particulars remain the same. Particulars in this context refers to the results, both positive and not so positive, that can be had from performing a juice fast.

Always Consult Your Medical Professional First

While some people just do it, as the slogan says, others take a more measured, scientific approach and follow the instructions on the label, so to speak. Before radically changing your diet and lifestyle, which a juice fast will do, you MUST consult your doctor. The reality is that juice fasting can have serious side effects, especially if you are diabetic, have a heart condition, have just had surgery, have ongoing medical problems and take medication and so forth.

Get Ready Or Just Go?

Most juice fast websites strongly advise fasters to prepare the week prior by cutting down, then cutting out alcohol, nicotine, fatty foods, oils, dairy products, meat, bread and other processed items. Very often this cutting down process is enough in itself to either spur the faster on or turn them off completely. If you decide to dive in, after getting the ok from your doctor but without doing the wind down, be prepared for a few bad days as your body adjusts.

Detox or Detoxing?

However it is spelled, this juice fast will cleanse the body, starting at the colon and working its way through every pore of the skin, every organ, tissue and platelet of blood. At least it will feel that way. The first day isn’t too bad, the second starts to become uncomfortable for most fasters but it is Day 3 that makes or breaks most people. Headaches, nausea and dizziness have all been reported. Some suffer diarrhea while others go the other way. As they say, your results may vary. If you can get past the third day you will feel the benefits of increased energy and zest and rapid and sustainable weight loss. Some people fast for five days every five weeks, others do it one day a week once they get their system cleaned and sorted. How long and how often is really up to you .
