Key Risk Factors for Developing Colorectal Cancer

According to the National Cancer Institute, it is not known exactly what causes colorectal cancer, however, there are certain risk factors that should be taken into consideration in order to try to prevent the onset. They have specifically identified 8 broad categories and are currently undergoing research in these areas. Key risk factors that have specifically been targeted are:

  • Age
  • Polyps
  • Personal History
  • Family History
  • Ulcerative Colitis
  • Poor Diet
  • Lack of Exercise
  • Smoking

Of the eight key factors, it appears that only three can definitely be treated naturally while there is one factor, polyps, that is open to debate. We can control our diets, whether or not we smoke and of course the amount of exercise we get. It is well established in the naturopathic community that we need to eat diets that are high in fiber and low in refined processed foods.

It is further determined that regular colon cleansings with high fiber supplements such as New Life Cleanse and Pro Cleanse can help to prevent the onset of polyps which in turn are known to be a risk factor for colorectal cancer.

There has always been heated controversy between what the medical community will admit as being safe or effective for preventing illnesses and what naturopaths/homeopaths believe will be effective and safe. But, if you take the time to dig a little deeper, you will see that medical science is finally taking the time to research natural approaches to the prevention and treatment of many diseases that holistic communities have been using effectively for years.
