How to Prevent Colon Cancer
Colon cancer is caused by a polyp in the colon. However, not all polyps found in the colon are cancerous. This is a good thing but this does not mean that they will not develop into cancerous cells some time in the future. Because they are sensitive to carcinogens, it is wise to steer clear of food that are carcinogenic.
You should avoid processed food since the chemicals used in making them have a longer shelf life are not good for you. You should also be aware of certain food preparations, such as cooking in open fire, that can generate carcinogens. You should know that eating a lot of broiled and fried food can increase your risk of contracting colon cancer. You should also avoid food with artificial coloring and sweeteners.
The things that you can eat should not have gone through a whole process to reach your plate. Stick to nuts and fruits for snacks. They contain no preservatives, compared to biscuits or chips. You should also only organically-grown fruits and vegetables. These have less likely been cultivated with the use of pesticides. Around 20% of pesticides are carcinogens and we can never be sure what large vegetable and fruit farms use.
Aside from a proper diet, you should also consider having a positive lifestyle. Exercise more. Be kinder and happier. Remember that your will to live can help keep colon cancer (and other forms of cancer) at bay.
