Fruits and Vegetables that are Good for the Colon
You have been told many times to include fruits and vegetables in your diet to help your colon. This is true because they are rich in fiber. But there are many kinds of fruits and vegetables in the market. Once you get to the produce section of the supermarket, how do you know which ones to buy?
Raspberries, blackberries, strawberries, prunes, and papaya are fruits that are high in fiber. Other fruits that are high in fiber are apples (especially if the skin is eaten as well), pears, and figs. You can also try cherries, plums, dates, and apriconts.
As for vegetables, getting enough of the green leafy ones would be great for your colon. Examples that are easy to find are kale, mustard greens, spinach and arugula. You can mix them in your salads or make juices out of them. You may also want to mix it up with legumes and helpful spices, such as cayenne pepper, garlic, ginger, curry, and onions.
Eating at least 5 servings of these fruits and vegetables will surely help waste moving along your colon. And once your colon becomes clean, you will feel improvement on your general health. It is not entirely bad to eat red meat or carbohydrates but you need to increase your vegetables and fruits intake. Doing this early on can save you a lot of grief later in life.
