He will be able to diagnose whether you have colon cancer, an imflammatory bowel disease, or other diseases involving the colon.
Considering the fact that many people die from colon cancer and that colonoscopy is a fairly painless procedure that takes no less than 30 minutes, many doctors find it a very helpful operation. The only complication from the operation is slight bleeding. But this does not always happen and it eventually goes away. However, this is better than not knowing whether you have colon cancer or not.
