Colon Polyps – Types
Many people have colonic polyps. This problem can be easy to fix after the doctor checks to see how serious it is. In some cases, everything will be alright in a few days, but in other situations, colonic polyps can develop into colon cancer. There are four major types of colonic polyps.
In the case of the neoplastic polyp, the patient should know that he will have to face a condition which can be benign or malignant. This type of problem appears when cells lose their differentiation.
The next type is the metaplastic polyp, which happens to be the most common issue. However, it is only benign and it can’t grow more than 5 millimeters.
The presence of inflammatory polyps is usually the cause of another problem, usually ulcerative colitis.
The last type of colonic polyp is the Hamartomatous. This name refers to a series of tissues which will form an abnormal growth.
Some colonic polyps are worse than others. It doesn’t really matter the case, the smart thing to do is getting checked before it’s too late. The process is simple, fast and reliable.
