Colon Cancer Survival Rates
Even in our days, some diseases are hard to overcome. Colon cancer is one of them, being the second most deadly illness in the United States and many other parts of the world. With all the information that doctors can provide about this problem, we still can’t figure out a strong remedy.
The only real way of treating colon cancer is by preventing it or catching it in an early stage. Without prevention, you might have this problem without even knowing it. When most people find out that they have colon cancer, chances are that they won’t be able to cure it in any way. Doctors have developed a number of stages which can be recognized on each patient. At stage 1 of colon cancer, the person in cause has a 93% chance of surviving. After three more stages, at 3B, the rate of survival drops at 64%. At stage 4, only 8% of the patients manage to survive.
Besides the sage, the chances of surviving colon cancer are also based on other factors like the location of the tumor. Another important element of the equation is the treatment which the patient decides to take. Either way, we have to admit that this is a major problem and the chances of surviving colon cancer which wasn’t detected on time are slim.
