Can I Fast To Cleanse My Colon?
Most people think that if they fast they will be cleaning out their digestive tract. It is a common misconception that if we don’t put any new food in our system then eventually it will empty out the intestines. Actually, fasting is beneficial for some healthful purposes, but not for cleansing the colon.
The only way to cleanse your colon is to flush everything out with some substance that will actually push it all the way through. Even when you fast for a few days, waste matter and toxins still sit there putrefying. The reason why most colon cleansing products are high-fiber based supplements is because the fiber will expand when water is absorbed.
The fiber then pushes everything in its path through the intestines and out of the body. Fasting isn’t able to accomplish that. Undigested food will still be sitting there when you start eating again. There is a reason why that food wasn’t digested in the first place, and fasting isn’t going to treat the problem.
A good way to look at is like a toilet that has gotten clogged and won’t flush. If you don’t try to flush it, then it won’t spill over onto the floor. But it still won’t work and if you try to flush it you will have a flood. You need the plumber to snake it out so that it will flush again. Think of fasting like the toilet that is clogged. You are just letting it sit there. The fiber-cleanse is the plumber’s snake that clears it out so you can flush it again.
