Alternative Medicine for a Colon with Problems
One of the many diseases that can plague your colon is Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). If you have IBS, there is nothing wrong with your digestive tract, physiologically. In other words, your doctor will see a normal colon if he checks your organ. Still, you experience diarrhea, consitpation, (or a mix of the two), bloating, and stomach cramps. If you have IBS, your colon is simply not working properly even when there is really nothing wrong with it.
Since your doctor can’t possibly know the exact cause of the disease, treatment for IBS cannot be administered. What he can do is give you medicine to relieve the symptoms only. However, there are also ways for you to deal with IBS. These ways do not involve drugs.
There are theories stating that IBS is a result of miscommunication between your colon and the brain. Also, it has been noted that IBS symptoms are often felt as a response to stress or other negative events in a person’s life. It also follows that alternative treatment for the disease involves relaxation. Methods involve relaxation techniques. Cognitive behavioral therapy is also administered to some patients. In this method, the patient will be taught how to be more positive so that he can minimize stress in his life.
